BISU MC CAS Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Year-End Evaluation and COPC Strategic Workshop

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of BISU Main Campus celebrated a remarkable milestone as it held its 2nd Founding Anniversary in conjunction with the Academic Year-End Evaluation and COPC Strategic Workshop at JJ’s Seafood Village on April 7, 2025. The event brought together faculty members, students, and university officials for a day of reflection, recognition, and academic foresight.

The morning program began with registration, followed by an opening prayer led by Mary Jean S. Polinar, a faculty member of the Social Sciences Department, and the singing of hymns. Dr. Bernabe M. Mijares Jr., Dean of CAS, formally welcomed the guests and emphasized the purpose of the gathering, celebrating achievements and preparing for future academic undertakings.

One of the highlights of the morning program was a special video presentation entitled “CAS since Inception,” chronicling the journey and accomplishments of the college over the past two years. Messages of support and inspiration followed from Dr. Samuel J. Gulayan, Campus Director, and Dr. Maria Lilibeth G. Castil, Vice President for Academics and Quality Assurance.

Intermission numbers from BS Mathematics, BPA, AB Philosophy, and BS Psychology students rendered the program livelier. Engaging CAS Trivia Games facilitated by Psychology and BPA instructors further strengthened camaraderie among the attendees. Thereafter, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, University President, delivered an inspirational message that echoed the administration’s full support for the college’s continued growth and development.

The afternoon session transitioned to a more strategic tone, beginning with a workshop input by Dr. Bernabe M. Mijares Jr., followed by insights from Dr. Elaine M. Cepe, Head of Institutional Sustainability Assessment, on COPC requirements and compliance strategies. Participants then proceeded to the workshop proper, where the faculty members collaboratively reviewed and presented their outputs, focusing on program development and sustainability.

In the closing remarks, Dr. Marjorie P. Alibo, faculty of the Social Sciences Department, commended everyone’s active participation and reaffirmed CAS’s commitment to academic quality and institutional advancement.

The program concluded successfully at 4:00 PM, with Ms. Jasha Shaye C. Anub, faculty of the Humanities Department, serving as the Lady of Ceremony, gracefully guiding the flow of the day’s meaningful activities.

After the formal program, the faculty members proceeded to the BISU Main Campus for the blessing of the CAS Faculty Room, with Rev. Fr., Jeremy Mondroid officiating the rite. The solemn blessing signified a new chapter for the college, highlighting its dedication to fostering academic growth and strengthening its institutional mission.

With two years behind it and a strong vision ahead, the College of Arts and Sciences continues to stand as a beacon of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the university.
