BISU Recognized at CHED’s EQUATE Awards for Excellence on Teacher Education




Bohol Island State University is honored to be recognized as one of the top-performing Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in the country. This prestigious recognition was awarded at the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education (EQUATE) Awards, held on April 2, 2025, at the Manila Hotel.
The EQUATE Awards is a prestigious recognition given to higher education institutions that have demonstrated excellence in delivering quality pre-service teacher education through sustained compliance with CHED’s quality assurance requirements, program accreditation, and outstanding performance in the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).
Three of BISU’s campuses were recognized for their outstanding contributions to teacher education: BISU Main Campus was conferred dual awards for both its Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) programs; BISU Candijay Campus was honored for its BSED Program; and BISU Bilar Campus was acknowledged for its BSED Program.
Dr. Lilibeth G. Castil, Vice President for Academic and Quality Assurance, proudly received the EQUATE Awards on behalf of Bohol Island State University. She was accompanied by key representatives from the three recognized campuses. From the Main Campus were Dr. Renario G. Hinampas Jr., Dean of the College of Teacher Education; Dr. Fritzie D. Dayot, Chairperson of the Elementary Education Department; and Dr. Girlie L. Valeroso, Chairperson of the Secondary Education Department. Representing BISU Candijay Campus were Dr. Luzminda G. Machete, Campus Director; Dr. Vilma G. Bermoy, Dean of the College of Teacher Education; and Dr. Weena Mae G. Ampo, former Chairperson of the Elementary Education Department. Meanwhile, BISU Bilar Campus was represented by Dr. Proceso M. Castil, Campus Director; Dr. Marites D. Muring, Dean of the College of Teacher Education; and Dr. Ma. Quimar Q. Gahit, former Dean of the College of Teacher Education.
This recognition reflects BISU’s commitment to nurturing future educators who are competent, compassionate and dedicated to nation-building. It is a testament to the steadfast support and collaboration among administrators, faculty, students, alumni, and stakeholders across our campuses.
