BISU-CBM Tourism and Hospitality Faculty Carry Out CHED STEP-UP Immersion Program

Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) Faculty members under the (CBM) College of Business and Management, conducted faculty immersion at the Astoria Culinary and Hospitality Institute situated at Astoria Palawan, San Rafael, Puerto Princesa, Palawan last July 5-13, 2025. The Faculty Immersion Program is a key component of the CHED STEP-UP (Sustainable for Tertiary Education Program Upgrading Project) Grant.

This initiative supports the professional development of higher education faculty members by enhancing their industry exposure, updating their practical knowledge, and aligning academic instruction with evolving industry demands. Furthermore, the program provided a valuable opportunity for educators to bridge the gap between academic theory and industry practice.

Among the Tourism and Hospitality Faculty Delegation were Dr. Rizaleth P. Mepieza, Dean of the College of Business and Management, along with Dr. Francis Delusa, Dr. Joseph A. Ariate, Ms. Lara Maria S. Daling, Mr. Alison B. Momongan, Ms. Katleya Concepcion V. Mission,MBA-TLM, Dr. Agnes I. Estrera, Ms. Ann Peachy I. Grumo, Professor Kristine Teffanie A. Salugsugan, Dr. Edgar C. Galendez, Dr. Rea E. Kibir, Professor Arlene E. Escabarte,MATVE, Dr. Eugenito B. Gaviola, Professor Mark Justine Manuta, and Mr. Jay Q. Fernandez.

Through direct exposure to real-world operations and systems, faculty members gained updated knowledge on current trends, technologies, and professional standards in their respective fields. This experience emphasized the importance of aligning instructional content with industry demands to ensure graduates are job-ready and competitive.
