Leaders of PH Education Joins BISU Calape Grads in 2025 Commencement Exercises

“This is not just a celebration. This is kadaugan. This is tagumpay and victory.”

Such a picturesque description was the shared feeling of the graduates of the 41st Commencement Exercises of Bohol Island State University (BISU) Calape Campus held today, June 23, at the Calape Cultural Center, municipality of Calape, province of Bohol.

315 graduates composed the Class of 2025 of BISU Calape, with 5 magna cum laude grads and 40 cum laude grads leading the pack. The Class was presented by BISU Calape, led by Campus Director Dr. Roxanne P. Altea, to Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, the university president, who then confirmed the class as graduates.

Joining the #KADAUGAN were some of the country’s leaders in the education industry, including Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. executive director Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region 7 regional director Dr. Maura Consolacion D. Cristobal, and the newly-appointed chairperson of CHED, Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis—this year’s commencement speaker.

“Hindi lang ito tagumpay. Ito ay tagumpay na may pinanggagalingan. Ito ay tagumpay na may pinagdadaanan,” said CHED chairperson Dr. Agrupis to the graduates in her inspiring commencement address.

Gracing the exercises were the offices of Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, Bohol 1st District Congressman Edgar Chatto, and Calape municipal vice mayor Sulpicio Yu Jr., represented respectively by Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Handel Lagunay, Chief of Staff Atty. Abelion Damalerio, and former Calape Sangguniang Kabataan federation president Mark Cambangay, all of whom proudly congratulated the batch.

After the baccalaureate address of BSED-English magna cum laude Chrstine Mae De Vera, University President Dr. Penaso gave his president’s charge to the graduates, challenging all to carry the BISU culture of excellence. The graduates were then inducted as members of the BISU Calape Alumni Association, with their Pledges of Loyalty read by BSIT-Food Preparation Services Technology Loyalty Awardee Mica Joanna Monredondo.

This chapter of the lives of BISU Calape’s Class of 2025 ends with the emotional singing of the university’s hymn. With diplomas in hand, the dreams of the graduates have now become a reality.

Congratulations, BISU Calape Class of 2025!
