BISU Candijay Class of 2025: Our Diplomas, Symbols of Our Perseverance

The 49th Commencement Exercises of Bohol Island State University Candijay Campus (BISU Candijay) held yesterday, June 10, at the Candijay Cultural Center in the municipality of Candijay, province of Bohol, witnessed perseverance manifest. The graduates were all smiles, ready to hold their hard-earned diplomas as proof of their commitment to lifelong education.
BISU Candijay Campus Director Dr. Luzminda Machete presented the 621 candidates for graduation to the University President Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, who officially confirmed them all as graduates—their confirmation as graduates, symbolized in an iconic Tassel Ceremony.
This year’s commencement speaker, Dr. Tristan L. Abando, the Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Science and Technology Region 7, delivered his address with gusto, inviting the “victorious and resilient Class of 2025” graduates to “make it a habit to reflect.” Reminding the graduates of today’s fast-paced world, Dr. Abando called on the newly minted grads to “reflect on the challenges” and the lessons learned.
The graduates of the Class of 2025 of BISU Candijay went through the established quality academic programs of BISU Candijay: Master of Arts in Education major in Educational Management, Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Math, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Filipino, Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science major in Coastal Management, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration.

“[Our] diplomas are not symbols of hardwork, but of perseverance,” said Ms. Lorina J. Amparo, magna cum laude BS Fisheries graduate of BISU Candijay’s Class of 2025. In her baccalaureate address, she thanked her parents and the educators of BISU Candijay.
“You taught us that progress is better than perfection.”
By early afternoon, light rain was drizzling outside the Candijay Cultural Center. But it was eventually replaced by colorful confetti and happy tears from the graduates and their loved ones at the end of the commencement exercises.
