BISU Shines at the 3rd Council of Management Educators and Professionals in the Philippines (COMEPP) Central Visayas Regional Conference 2025


Bohol Island State University – Main Campus (BISU-MC) once again proved its excellence after garnering several awards at the 3rd Council of Management Educators and Professionals in the Philippines, Inc. (COMEPP) Visayas Region Conference, held on April 24–25, 2025, at the Senior High School Bldg. of University of Cebu – Banilad Campus, Gov. Cuenco Avenue, Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.
The prestigious annual event gathered students, educators, and professionals from various academic institutions across Central Visayas, aiming to promote academic excellence, foster innovation, and strengthen collaboration within the field of management education. This year’s conference carried the theme, “AI’s Role in Education and Learning and Its Implications in the Workforce, Business Operations, and Sustainability,” emphasizing the increasing influence of artificial intelligence in today’s industries and the critical need for future professionals to adapt to an AI-driven environment.
BISU-MC proudly made its mark during the two-day conference, bagging multiple awards across different competitions:
- Business Pitching Competition: BISU-MC impressively captured two awards. Vincent Ric An R. Quijada (BS Office Administration), coached by Dr. Arvin S. Caballo, earned 3rd Place, while Ray Leonard Quidlat (BS Entrepreneurship), coached by Dr. Vito Carlo M. Genove, bagged 2nd Place.
- Quiz Bowl: BISU-MC clinched 3rd Place with a team composed of Reinalyn Vega (BS Office Administration), Ray Leonard Quidlat (BS Entrepreneurship), and Mary Rose Jovita (BS Entrepreneurship). They were coached by Assistant Professor Ruth E. Peligrino, Mr. Froilan Boiser, and Mr. Elmer John Bangcal.
- Research Poster Competition: BISU-MC emerged as the Champion. The winning team featured BS Hospitality Management students Regine Moreno, Choreena Bolando, and Janine Carangcarang, under the guidance of Dr. Edgar C. Galendez, Dr. Rea E. Kibir, and Dr. Rizaleth P. Mepieza.
- Impromptu Speech Competition: BISU-MC secured 2nd Place, represented by Camille Q. Macabudbud, a BS Tourism Management student, mentored by Lara Mariah S. Daling.
Notably, all winners who placed from 1st to 3rd are qualified to advance to the National COMEPP Conference, which will be held in Iloilo City on November 12–14, 2025. This provides an exciting opportunity for the BISU-MC delegates to showcase their talents on a larger stage and compete against the best teams from across the Philippines.
These achievements stand as a testament to the students’ and coaches’ unwavering dedication, hard work, and pursuit of excellence.
