BISU MC CAS Lead Training-Workshop to Faculty on Quality Constructive Alignment between Syllabus, Instruction, and Assessment

Under the auspices of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), the 2-Day Training-Workshop on Course Syllabus Alignment and Questionnaire Item-Analysis commenced with a gathering of esteemed educators from the College of Teacher Education, College of Business and Management, and College of Technology. The workshop was designed to refine faculty competencies in constructive alignment and SOLO Taxonomy.

The morning session on March 31 at JJ’s Seafood Village unfurled with an invocation led by Christine Guliman, MAEd, RGC, a core faculty member of the BS Psychology program. As the Master of Ceremony, Jasha Shane Anub, LPT, guided the proceedings.

Dr. Bernabe M. Mijares Jr., Dean of CAS, delivered the Welcome Remarks and Statement of Purpose. This was reinforced by Dr. Maria Lilibeth G. Castil, Vice President for Academics and Quality Assurance, who underscored the institution’s commitment to quality education.

Introducing the resource speaker Enriqueta D. Reston was Dr. Eliza T. Jala, Chairperson of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department. A Full Professor 5 at the University of San Carlos, Dr. Reston holds a PhD in Education (Research and Evaluation) and advanced degrees in Mathematics from UP and Silliman University.

The afternoon session resumed with a recap game led by Jana Nunez, MAPA (Cand.). In the afternoon, discussions bridged theory with praxis, as faculty members collaborated on refining their course structures. Then, Mr. Mark Steven A. Pandan, LPT, MAEd Social Studies (Cand.), a Humanities faculty member of CAS, was tapped to deliver a concise impression, reflecting on the pedagogical recalibration the workshop sought to achieve.

The day concluded with the giving of token of appreciation by Dr. Bernabe M. Mijares Jr. to honorDr. Reston’s invaluable contribution. As the first day drew to a close at 5:00 PM, participants departed with minds enriched and pedagogical visions sharpened—ready for the second instalment of this scholarly convergence on April 21, 2025.
