The Commission on Higher Education has named Commissioner Dr. Jo Mark M. Libre as the new chair of the Board of Regents of Bohol Island State University and 23 other state universities and colleges in the country, as stated by CHED Chair J. Prospero E. de Vera III in CHED Special Order no. 22, dated March 1, 2022.
Dr. Libre and Dr. Marita Canapi were named as new CHED Commissioners based on appointment papers signed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte on February 9, 2022, according to ched.gov.ph. The two new commissioners will serve a three-year term until July 21, 2025.
Libre, who will assume the post from outgoing commissioner Dr. Perfecto Alibin, formerly served as the Vice President for Communications and External Affairs at the Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. in Davao City.
According to ched.gov.ph, Dr. Libre obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) and was awarded a scholarship from CHED to pursue his Master of Arts in Political Science with a major in Global Politics at Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU).
Libre also took Master of Public Administration from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) and received his Doctor of Public Administration from Ateneo de Cagayan-Xavier University.
